Obituary of Livinia Mae Cook

Livinia Mae (Cairns) Cook, age 75, of La Plata, MD passed away peacefully at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center on Monday, April 24, 2017. She was born April 20th, 1942 in Darlington, PA. She was the daughter of the late William Allen Cairns, Sr., a World War II Veteran, and Lucille Georgianna (Dunham) Cairns of Darlington, PA.
Livinia was also known as "Toots" and "Lu" or "Lu-Lu" by her family and close friends. She had resided at Sagepoint Long term facility in La Plata, MD for the past year with advanced Alzheimer's disease, where they cared for her dearly. Growing up, she was a member of Cannelton Baptist Church in Darlington, PA and sang in the choir and was involved in the youth group. Livinia graduated from Northwestern high school in Darlington, PA in 1960, married her high school sweetheart and moved to Washington, D.C. to start a new chapter of her life. From a young age she was a high energy person and worked as a Supervisor for Perpetual Insurance Agency in Washington, D.C. in the 70's and early 80's, and continued her career as an insurance agent until she retired at the age of 62. Livinia was known for being a loving mother, her dedication to her friends and family, her giving spirit and helping with her late forever friend, Regina Rison with charity, Mary's (Pugh) Pantry. Some of her favorite things were spending time with her friends, visiting her brother and nieces and nephews at her hometown, loving on her grand dogs, going to the beach, shopping, coffee and ice cream.
She is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Janet Cairns, of Beaver Falls, PA.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Dawn (Cook) McLaughlin and grandson Justus McLaughlin of La Plata, MD, her grand dogs, Blossom and Eskie, her brother William Cairns, Jr. and his wife Francine Cairns (Ulizio) of Ambridge, PA and nieces and nephews; Joni Cairns and Jena (Cairns) Gaudio, April (Cairns) Fugate, Dustin and Lance Cairns, Alan Shaffer and many other nephews, nieces, and close friends.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home located at 2618 Darlington Rd., Beaver Falls, PA 15010 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and the memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. The procession to the Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls, PA will immediately follow the funeral service for her burial.
