Obituary of Auguston Green
Please share a memory of Auguston to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Auguston "Gus" Green born November 28, 1932 in Pocahontas, Mississippi went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2022 after a short-term stay in The Grove at New Wilmington Nursing Home.
Gus was the son of the late George W. Green, Sr. and Luvenia (Burt) Green. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He united in holy matrimony with the late Maria Delitha O’Leary on July 23, 1955. Gus & Delitha relocated to Beaver Falls, PA where he was employed at various companies while consistently cultivating his zeal for proprietorship. Gus joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1955. During his active membership, he served as the President of the Male Usher Board and Chairman of the Building Fund Committee. Gus never met a stranger! He was known for his outspoken and strong-willed personality. Gus always loved spending time with family and friends, attending church events, and socializing in the community.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gus was preceded in death by five brothers, Richard Green, Sr. (Beulah), George W. Green, Jr. (Annie B.), John Robert Green, Lewis Green, and Earmon Green; a sister, Mary Viola Green Bullie (J. Lee, Sr.); and son-in-law, Melvin O. Smith.
He is survived by his only daughter, Susan M. Smith who held his hands as he transitioned into glory; three granddaughters: Shana M. Smith (Jerome) of Munhall, PA; Mallory O. Smith and Sydney M. Smith of Carney, MD; three great-grandchildren: Meilah, Roman, and Sienna; sister-in-law, Joanna Atkins Green; special nieces and nephew, August S. Donald, Shannon M. Smith and John Percy Green; a bonus sister, Janie Williams Rawl; along with a brother & sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to The Grove at New Wilmington’s staff, his at-home caretaker, Gail Smith and his friends Tom Perry and Clyde “CJ” Morris.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, October 21st from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 630 3rd Avenue, Beaver Falls, 15010 with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 22nd at 10 am.
