Obituary of Velma Jean Lucas

Velma Jean Lucas, 80, of Enon Valley died Friday, June 29, 2018 in Good Samaritan Hospice in Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born December 9, 1937 in Darlington, PA, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Mabel (Lewis) McCowin and the cook at Enon Valley Inn for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, mowing the grass and crafts. Her and her companion always played darts.

Surviving are four daughters: Jean Townsend, New Waterford, OH, Carol Lucas, Enon Valley, Mary (Donald) McCreary, Enon Valley and Patty (Don) Harper, West Mayfield; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; a brother, Fred McCowin; and her best friend and companion Richard Smith, Enon Valley.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lila Beck.

Friends will be received Monday, July 2, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM in the Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home, 2618 Darlington Road with Pastor Duane Herron of the Enon Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, PA.
